“I want you to hit me as hard as you can.”

Man, I love Fight Club.

Adam Baker over at Man vs. Debt wrote a fantastic article about how Fight Club relates to money and Tyler Durden’s Guide to Personal Finance. It’s kinda brilliant.

“I don’t wanna die without any scars.”

Anyway… I’ve never been in a fight. I’ve never hit another person. I’ve never been hit. But I gotta tell ya, I kinda want to. I’ve always thought Boxing was dumb. Why would 2 supposedly intelligent adults voluntarily get into a square (not a ring) and punch each other?? It just didn’t make sense. I mean, I guess for the money? Whatever. Concussions, and busted teeth and broken faces. Dumbasses.

BUT… lately… I wonder. I flip past UFC fights and I find myself clicking back to them. I’m checking out YouTube videos of Jackie Chan. Searching for videos about how MMA dudes train. Wha? I’m no mixed martial artist!! Then I find myself peeking in the the windows of Brazilian Ju Jitsu joints. Ugh. If I had the time and the money, I’d be in that class. No to learn how to kick someone’s ass, but to learn the discipline, get in better physical condition, and focus on something instead of letting my (as yet undiagnosed) ADD run all over the place.

Fight Club’s on Bravo right now: the part where they have to go out and pick a fight with a stranger and lose…

I’ve thought about putting a post on Craigslist offering to just let someone hit me, but they have to let me hit them back. Is that weird? Have you been in a fight? How do you feel about boxing, martial arts, football and other violence as entertainment? Do you practice a martial art? What do you get from it?

If I asked you to hit me as hard as you can, would you?
